Out West - Spring 1999 This trip started as an itch to get away. Since my first trip in Winter 1999, I wanted to go West. I packed my bags and headed to Oshkosh, WI for some routine car maintenance. After spending two days in Oshkosh I was ready to head out West. This trip was a bit different from the first. I didn't want to be chained to my laptop having to write up entries everyday. I also forgot the cable that connects my digital camera to my laptop, so I had no way to upload photos. Therefore I was limited to twenty-five photos during my whole two-week journey. This turned out to be a very positive thing. Because I was limited, I made sure every photo I took was something worth looking at. This trip took me to Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and home to Michigan. I had a wonderful time on this trip, visiting many well known - as well as lesser known - points of interest. I also visited an old friend I hadn't seen in years who was living in New Mexico. I thoroughly enjoyed driving through the desert. Driving for an hour and seeing the same mountain ahead is something that can only be experienced. It was a rush flying down the highway, sunroof and all my windows open, the stereo blaring, and nothing the but the flat desert road in front of me. No cars for miles. The scenery varied so much during my trip that, at times it was hard to take in all at once. This section serves as a photo collage of my travels out West. If you want to find out more about where I traveled, please email me and I'll be happy to answer your questions. |
